International Student Information

Applicants from countries outside the United States must submit an application, pay the appropriate fees, and meet all admission requirements.

Foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated by an International Transcript Evaluation Service recognized and accepted by the college. Fees for this service are the responsibility of the applicant. Applicant should request a subject analysis transcript evaluation. The report must be mailed directly to the SCNMHS department of admission and received before an evaluation of the applicant's file can begin.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Southwest College reserves the right to require any international student whose native language is not English to take the TOEFL. A minimum score of 550 is required on the paper-based test and a minimum score of 213 is required on the computer test. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited U.S. college or university replaces any language proficiency requirements.

Information on TOEFL is available in the department of admission. Test results must be received prior to matriculation.

I-20 (Certificate for Eligibility)
International applicants must submit a financial guarantee form and evidence of ability to meet yearly expenses before they qualify for a student visa. Sufficient funds must cover the cost of the first year of school, books, student fees, and all living expenses. All payments to the college must be made in U.S. funds.

The I-20 form is issued by the department of admission only after official acceptance to the college and receipt of the admission deposit.

  1. International transcript evaluation/translation by professional International Transcript Service (for all foreign course work).   2. Satisfy Student Visa application requirements (I-20 form).
  3. Applicants/Students with foreign transcripts must also submit an official foreign transcript evaluation.
