Embry-Riddle provides a technologically advanced learning environment for its students. With more than 400 Dell computers available in the labs and classrooms, technology is an essential part of the learning experience. Whether it is through hands-on experience or application of theoretical concepts, students are provided opportunities to use many forms of technology. Information Technology provides an array of services that support student learning. The following details our most popular services.
The Prescott campus is comprised of 45 classrooms and 11 labs. Each classroom is equipped with an audiovisual system containing:
Dell computer at podium Multimedia projector VCR ERAUNET and Internet access DVD player
All the labs use the latest technology to give students a functional learning environment. Whether they are using a discipline-specific lab as part of a course or collaborating on a project in a general-purpose lab, students have access to the computing resources necessary to complete the task. Students can work on projects or homework, research information on the Internet, or simply send and receive email.
The Prescott campus has an SGI Altix 350 super computer available for faculty and student research. This advanced technology allows for high speed computations necessary for use in engineering computational fluid dynamics and physics Monte Carlo theory.
Embry-Riddle provides a residential network, ResNet, to students living in residence halls on campus. ResNet provides students Internet access via a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet network. An ethernet port is provided for each student.
Embry-Riddle has a campus license agreement with Microsoft that provides students with access to Microsoft software, such as Windows XP Professional Upgrade and Office 2003. In addition to Microsoft software, there are over 50 other software titles available for use in labs and classrooms. These software tools are used in disciplines such as math, engineering, aviation, and communications.
CATIA SPSS Maple Matlab Rational Rose Elite Simulation Dreamweaver ANSYS Mathematica
The campus has a wireless Internet project underway and plans to complete the project by Fall 2006. The wireless network will offer a wireless connection to the Internet with connection speeds varying from 11Mbps to 54 Mbps.
